Admiral Finance established in 2003 by Dougal Shanda charted accountant, after following an international career Dougal wanted to come back home to NZ and to do something different, we are 100% New Zealand owned and operated.

We started out establishment in order to assist people to get the quick cash loans they needed by offering fair and competitive rates. We are not the size of a high street bank, but we certainly have a vast amount of experience plus we are able to use our own money to lend.

It’s natural that we don’t just lend to anyone – the cash still needs to be reimbursed back to Admiral Finance. We take the approach of looking at people in a different way by taking the time to hear what each customer’s personal circumstances are and considering people looking for bad credit loans.

We then look at your affordability and what sort of security you have, we don’t go according to what the computer tells us to say because we’re a financial concern based on people and not computers.

Dougal realized that some things were just not fair! The bank stuck so firmly to their lending criteria’s that they forgot that they were dealing with real people whose situations were real. How could it be that when people who had settled their personal loans on the agreed term were often turned away?

We are different. We have a team of professionals, not only in our industry but a team who know how to help and hear what our customers are saying. We are New Zealand Locals based in Christchurch so we are well aware of what our customers are facing on a day to day basis.

Dougal is president of the Canterbury branch of the NZ credit and finance institute and uses this role to spread the word to try and effect changes the industry needs.
